Holidays are gone, major move is over and I am so out of touch! From DDTonline, can't get much but things look like they are rolling on about the same. DRMC in the hot seat again. $erpentine $treet Redux. Wannabe Councilman Phil. The Mayor. The Fire Department. Looks sooooo typical of life in Smallville. Alas, No Superman.
I hope everyone survived all the holiday teas and balls and that 'ol Santa was good to you. I hope you are still true to your New Year's Resolutions, mine faded by midnight, Jan. 1, 2006. Wait 'till next year.
Everyone looks back on the old year and reflects, I look back and am thankful it is gone and yet thankful of the opportunities.
Dog appreciates the contributions everyone has made for the past month or so and I encourage you to keep doing so, for that is the only way I can keep the local news going. I noticed many of you failed LR, who through out some great pitches, yet no one came back. Either too much Egg Nog or the Brain Dead Body Snatchers took over the past month. LR, forgive us, but too much distraction and my feeble mind can only handle so much. Let's all make a resolution to debate more often and better in 2006.
Unless you want to read my rantings about Bush and the Goopers, local news will keep me subdued. Again, if you want to contribute, send e-mail. I will not publish names or e-mails only pseudonyms. You get the credit, but must take the heat.
Don't depend on me to keep you up to date locally.
I told you months ago that Humphreys was either totally incompetent or a political genius. I throw it out, you decide.
This blog has been for you for the past three months, at least. I have monitored it and posted those contributions others have made. That has been the most I could do. It won't continue in this mode for long without your input. I'm up to over 5,000 hits in less than a year, so many of you are interested, but few of you contribute. And those that do contribute are mostly ex-patriots.
So get off your asses and put some fire on the board!!!

This expatriate is not giving up, but I do have a question about a local issue. As I was watching the local news this morning, I saw that there were 2 guests (one was YMCA director Philip Doiron...I didn't know the other) present to discuss an upcoming community forum. The intended topic is public education, and the location of the event is Mercy Seat Baptist Church. I think it's great that a group in the community wants to address public education---and has pulled in a young, white, middle class male to identify with them---but why are attendees required to RSVP, as stated on the news program? They stated that, without a previous reservation, you will be turned away at the door. Are they serving dinner? Is there limited seating? Are attendees being screened? Why isn't everyone welcome?
Sorry to play Devil's Advocate. Perhaps when the meeting was in the planning stages, the organizers didn't take into account that their motives might be misunderstood. I hope they will clear up the confusion before the actual event.
Welcome back, Red Dog. By the way, I tried to email you over the holiday, but the message was returned to me. Mailbox full? Or new address?
Delta Watchdog (Login info is elusive...)
To clarify: I'm not actually an expatriate, since I still reside within the city limits of Greenville. I was merely correcting the spelling of the word. I live to educate and irritate, evidently. Sorry.
